Beginning on Monday, our students will begin their remote learning experience with their teachers. This transition will require some patience and support, but it is important for all of us that we develop effective alternative methods to connect with students and facilitate their learning.
What does remote learning look like for students?
During the majority of the time, the remote learning will take place in an asynchronous environment, or not in real time. However, some teachers are going to use instructional tools to develop remote learning activities that are in real time.
Students in grades PreK-2: The focus of the instruction is on Reading, Writing, and Mathematics. Parents will receive an email and/or electronic communication from their teachers outlining the learning activities for the day or week. Your children will need support to most successfully access the learning. We understand that could be a significant burden for some parents. We ask that you complete as many of the learning opportunities as possible and know that there will not be an impact on your child's grades if your child is unable to complete the work.
Students in Grades 3-12: Teachers will communicate the platform they will be using to share information and lessons. Most students will be utilizing their Google Classroom environment to see learning assignments, to watch lessons if videos are posted, or to interact using some of the classroom chat capabilities. Parents may access Google Classroom by creating a parent account. Teachers will be assessing the work for feedback to increase the opportunity for learning and growth. Your child's grade will be mostly determined by their 3rd quarter grade. Our online work will provide them with an opportunity to continue to learn and for our high 中国体彩官网app下载 students, to earn the necessary credits for graduation.
Students with Disabilities: Special education staff have been collaborating with general education teachers/teams to determine how they can best support their students within the remote learning structure. How this looks for each student will vary greatly based on each student’s individual needs and will continually be evaluated and adjusted.
We recognize this is a big shift for all of us, and we also know that routines are beneficial for students. If it is possible, we recommend that you create a schedule for your children. Regular schedules help students stay focused and see the work as a part of their day.
If students are having technology difficulties that concern Google Classroom or the teachers learning platform they should email their teacher. Unfortunately, with the Governors recent order, we will not be able to offer "break/fix" services for your students 中国体彩官网app下载 issued Chromebooks. If there is some relief in this order, we do plan to offer break/fix services at that time.
Our offices may not always have a staff member present to help or answer questions. The best way to contact a staff member is via email. School voicemail is also being monitored and someone will return your call within 24 hours.
